THANK-U-GRAM

The Homorable Thomas A. Daschle
Minority Leader, United States Senate
Washington, D.C. 20510

Dear Senator Daschle:

Thank you very much for reintroducing the Access to Medical Treatment Act (AMTA) as S-578. I am happy that S-578 will allow individual patients to be treated by the alternative health care practitioner of their choice and will also allow physicians to use certain complementary therapies not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). S-578 will give citizens far more health choices.

I agree with you that "it makes sense to consider opening up the system to alternative treatments that may help patients and are not proven harmful..."

The strict "informed consent" requirements in the bill are reasonable. It places the responsibility for treatment where it belongs-- on the person making the choice.

I will do all I can to get my U.S. Senators to cosponsor, support, and vote for S-578. Please extend my thanks to Senators Harkin, Hatch, Grassley, Abraham, Reid, Inouye, Baccus, Craig, Kempthorne and Thomas for Cosponsoring S-578.

Sincerely Yours,
